Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom Sweco Full time

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior or Principal Engineer to join our Development Infrastructure team in Edinburgh. This full-time role offers flexibility with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and adjusted start and finish times.

As a key member of our team, you will work on various projects, including residential, energy, and commercial sector development schemes from inception through detailed design and construction. Our current focus is on large-scale energy infrastructure projects.

Your responsibilities will include acting as a Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer to undertake and check the delivery of design solutions and coordinate with other disciplines. You will be involved in projects from conception to completion, including bid management, project brief clarification, deliverables agreement, key milestones, and project methodology. We aim to achieve the optimum solution for each project, and you will also be expected to occasionally coordinate a design team and plan workload and allocate resources as required.

You will take ownership and responsibility for the quality of your work, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with our Company Integrated Management system and all relevant health and safety legislation. Opportunities exist to recommend and implement improvements to technical policy, processes, and design solutions, which you can share via knowledge management channels as appropriate.

Requirements
  • An academic qualification, such as a master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, ideally accredited by the Engineering Council.
  • Relevant post-qualification engineering design experience and project delivery in residential, energy, and commercial sectors. For the Principal Engineer position, at least seven years' post-graduate experience is expected.
  • Good organisational and project management skills to support multiple live projects.
  • Competence in civil engineering infrastructure modelling software, particularly Civil 3D, with recent experience in highway, earthworks, and drainage design. AutoCAD expertise is essential.
  • Proficiency in using drainage design tools, such as InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, or Flow.
  • A working knowledge of MS Office 365 tools.
  • Experience in resource or commercial management on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • The ability to prioritise and organise a design team's workload to meet project timescales.
  • The ability to travel to sites and offices within the UK when required; a driving license would be beneficial but not necessary.
Estimated Salary: £60,000 - £90,000 per annum
