Lead Financial Analyst Position at Commonwealth of Virginia

Role Summary:
This position is essential for the accurate and timely management of financial transactions, including state funds, accounts payable, payroll, and grant finances. The Lead Financial Analyst will also be responsible for preparing and validating financial reports, performing fiscal data analysis, and collaborating with grant managers on tracking and reporting grant activities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive accounting experience with a focus on month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Relevant experience in grant accounting, including analysis, reimbursement, and reporting.
  • Active participation in the preparation and review of year-end financial statement schedules.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards.
Specialized Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards.
  • Familiarity with Grant Accounting, Grant Reporting, and federal regulations.
  • Understanding of Higher Education Accounting Standards and local regulations.
Key Skills:
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and communication abilities.
Competencies:
  • Ability to produce precise financial information.
  • Capability to make informed decisions regarding accounting issues.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Analyze financial data and enhance processes efficiently.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and compliance with regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous accounting experience in higher education, governmental, or non-profit sectors.
