Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our North Tyneside CAMHS service. The successful candidate will work with children and young people aged 0-18 and their families, who are affected by a variety of mental health difficulties.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player, able to contribute to specialist assessments and provide evidence-based interventions for young people with mental health difficulties and/or neurodiversity. The service has a number of Clinical Psychologists in post and the role will be under supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist and within a multi-disciplinary team.

The post will be based at Albion Road Resource Centre, North Shields, but the post holder may be required to work at other sites within the Trust.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to specialist assessments, including mental health, learning, systemic factors, the role of trauma, and the contribution of neurodevelopmental factors. They will also be required to work across locality CAMHS Teams as needed and develop individual interests with regards to all other service contributions across CAMHS.

The post holder will be expected to provide a qualified specialist clinical/counselling psychology service to clients of CAMHS, across all sectors of care, and offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and other, non-professional carers.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a First degree in Psychology or related subject with the British Psychological Society's Graduate Basis for Registration, a Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, and doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology.

They will also have experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and their families across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course, presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity, and maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.

Other Requirements

The post holder will be required to have a valid driving licence and be either a car owner or have a Trust personal lease vehicle, which may be used for work purposes. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.

The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
