About the Role


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our dynamic team at Sevenscore Ward, a 13-bedded Male acute mental health in-patient unit.


As a key member of the multidisciplinary care team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, working under the supervision of a senior associate worker, qualified nurse, occupational therapist, or the nurse in charge.


Main Responsibilities


You will be responsible for:



  • Delivering an effective and competent level of care, determined by the patient's care plan
  • Supervising the care given by band 2 healthcare workers
  • Being fully aware of the needs of patients over a 24hr span of care
  • Recording accurately all care given as required
  • Enabling patients to maintain and improve their independence by promoting active involvement in the therapeutic activity programme
  • Noting and reporting accurately any care given and/or information required by the nurse in charge
  • Giving physical care as required or instructed
  • Promoting patient's appearance and personal hygiene by offering support/advice in self-care and ensuring that suitable toiletries are available
  • Promoting a healthy, safe, and secure environment by adhering to Trust statutory health and safety requirements and maintaining confidentiality of information at all times in compliance with the Trust Policies
  • Assisting patients to maintain a clean and healthy ward environment and assisting them in all aspects of daily living skills as required

Person Specification


We are looking for candidates with:



  • Experience of working within Mental Health/Learning Disabilities setting
  • Numeracy and Literacy Skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
  • Care Certificate completed
  • Health or Social Care Qualification (Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Computer Literate
