Health Safety and Environment Professional

A new opportunity has arisen at OCU Group for a skilled Regional SHEQ Manager to join our Health and Safety team. This is a hands-on management position within the Group SHEQ Team, responsible for supporting effective SHEQ delivery within the Yorkshire and North East region.
About the Role:
- To provide SHEQ guidance and assistance to the Operational Regional Management Teams.
- To support the development of Regional annual SHEQ Plans.
- To provide SHEQ support for the Regional bid teams, including Bid and tender SHEQ responses and support for strategic opportunities.
- To ensure support is provided during the setup and mobilization of regional new contracts, depots, and acquisitions.
- To ensure assistance is provided in the development of risk assessments, method statements, and SHEQ plans, including CDM Construction Phase Plans.
- To play a lead role in the development and implementation of effective SHEQ Management Systems aligned to OCU Policy and SHEQ legislation for the broader business.
- To be visible and known to the Regional Management team, supported.
- To conduct suitable and effective SHEQ Compliance monitoring activities (audit/engagements) in the region and track the completion of all corrective action.
- To lead SHEQ Compliance monitoring activities for the Regional Management supported.
- To monitor and track SHEQ compliance information (lead and lagging indicators) at the regional level for trends, etc.
- To develop and publish SHEQ communications.
- To ensure involvement in worker consultation through attendance at Management, worker, and customer forums/engagements.
- To provide regular update reports on team/individual activities, BU performance, and improvement actions, initiatives, and plans.
- To lead the external accreditation and client audits.
- To provide support for accident/incident investigations in relation to incidents.
- To ensure that accident/incident reports investigations are effectively closed out with appropriate corrective actions and recommendations fully implemented.
- To liaise with management and external organizations in relation to the notification of accidents/incidents and dangerous occurrences.
About You:
We are looking for a skilled SHEQ Manager with a background in Utilities services and construction operational arena. The ideal candidate will have a NEBOSH Diploma/Construction Certificate or equivalent and preferably Chartered Member of IOSH (or actively working towards) as minimum. Experience of Microsoft Office software and ability to interact with company systems is also required. Good communication skills, both written and oral, are essential, as well as a professional approach, self-organization, and motivation to influence stakeholders.
