Operations Manager

Stobart, a leading logistics company, is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team. As an Operations Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day management of our consumer site, ensuring the smooth operation of our depot and maximizing cost efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and motivate a diverse team to achieve common goals, demonstrating strong leadership qualities and a successful track record of team management.
- Maintain internal databases and follow up on defects with the Fleet Department, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Administer the vehicle and trailer maintenance program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Complete daily checks and record on the central system, including trailers, returns, re-books, and pallets.
- Direct contact with drivers on daily performance and improvement actions, providing coaching and guidance to enhance their skills.
- Provide information and support to the Operations Manager to enable the planning and management of depot payroll.
- Ensure all personnel files are up-to-date, incorporating license validation, personal details, and completed training.
- Coordinate the recruitment and training of employees, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
- Assist in accident investigation and follow-up, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Complete daily risk assessments of the yard and office, identifying potential hazards and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Identify and inform the Operations Manager of any maintenance and repair issues in the site, ensuring prompt resolution.
- Proven track record of leading and motivating a diverse team to achieve common goals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with drivers, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Previous experience working within a similar transport-related role, with a good working knowledge of EU Hours, Working Time Directives, and Tachograph legislation.
- PC literate, with knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and the ability to work on their own initiative.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to resolve issues and adapt to changing circumstances.
- 1 year's experience in transport operations, with a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management.
