Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Trainee SEN Teacher, providing support to pupils with special educational needs.

About the Opportunity:

This role offers a unique chance to gain valuable experience working in local schools for children with designated Education Health Care Plans. You will work closely with small classes, supporting pupils' learning and progression while promoting their social and emotional development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide teaching and support to our pupils, following individualized curriculums
  • Support the delivery of lessons and activities, focusing largely on life skills
  • Support pupils' participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice
  • Provide behaviorally based support to reduce behaviors that impact quality of life
  • Provide personal care, encouraging pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene (toileting, feeding)
  • Monitor pupil progress, ensuring teaching is appropriate and effective for each child's needs
  • Assist with break time duties including playground support and snack time

Application Requirements:

  • Professional, personal or voluntary experience of working with children and disabilities
  • Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE in English Language & Maths or equivalent
  • Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behavior
  • Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required
  • Ability to keep calm in high pressure situations
  • Full UK Drivers license and a car or access to a lift (desirable not essential)

Salary: £22,100 - £26,000 per annum

Working Hours: 5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm
