Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom Jacobs Full time

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Case Engineer to join our team. As a Safety Case Engineer, you will work collaboratively across diverse markets in the civil nuclear and Defence sectors on both national and international projects.

Our work spans the nuclear lifecycle, including next-generation systems and emerging reactor technologies, supporting the operation of existing nuclear facilities and systems, and solving complex decommissioning challenges. Our work demonstrates that the facility, system or operation can be conducted safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Your Responsibilities

You will identify potential hazards and risks, quantify their consequences, and assess what available controls or measures can prevent or mitigate them. You will provide safety case support across the feasibility, design, operation, and decommissioning nuclear lifecycle and produce all required nuclear safety documentation.

This role requires engagement with multiple disciplines to ensure the appropriate balance of technical safety principles and engineering requirements. Opportunities are available in our Newcastle offices.

What We Offer

We offer a flexible workstyle, embracing a hybrid working pattern and supporting those who need to balance work/life commitments differently than others. We also provide free single medical cover and digital GP service, reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships, and an inclusive and diverse work environment.

We prioritize our people through a culture of caring and positive mental health champion network and provide opportunities to give back to our communities through our Collectively program, incorporating matched-funding, paid volunteering time, and charitable donations.

About Us

Jacobs is a US-owned organisation required to comply with certain US legislation, including atomic energy export control regulations. We are committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and welcome applications from candidates who are seeking flexible working and from those who may not meet all the listed requirements for a role.

How to Apply

Apply online through our website, and we will review your application. If successful, you will progress to a solo video assessment, followed by an interview. Please note that any offer of employment will be subject to the relevant security and export control requirements for the role being met.
