Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialty Doctor to join our dynamic Maxillofacial Unit at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. This is a full-time, substantive post in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery based in West Sussex, with opportunities for activity at Worthing Hospital and Southlands Hospital in Shoreham.

Main Duties

The post-holder will work closely with consultant colleagues to provide a comprehensive oral surgery service, including head and neck surgical dermatology procedures. They will be responsible for carrying out common oral surgery procedures, emergency and trauma surgery, and contributing to the supervision of junior staff within the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care in oral and maxillofacial surgery, including head and neck surgical dermatology procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with consultant colleagues to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Contribute to the supervision and training of junior staff, including medical students and junior doctors.
  • Participate in audit and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A basic medical degree and/or basic dental degree.
  • Full GMC and/or GDC registration with a licence to practice.
  • Four years post-graduation experience, with two years in the relevant specialty.
Desirable Criteria

We would welcome applications from candidates with:

  • A higher degree.
  • Appropriate specialist qualification.
  • CBCT reporting qualification.
