Job Title: Structural Engineer - Timber Frame Specialist

Location: Gorseinon

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £48,000

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team in Gorseinon. As a Structural Engineer - Timber Frame Specialist, you will be responsible for providing structural calculations and detailing for timber frame kits, ranging in size and scope from small self-build projects to large timber structures like schools and nursing homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Health & Safety (CDM)
  2. Provide Structural calculations for designers
  3. Provide line & point loads for client engineers
  4. Provide drawings and fabrication detailing for steel frames and connections
  5. Liaise and develop projects with client engineers
  6. Resolve any issues which may arise on site during installation
  7. Assist designers with queries and implementation
  8. Assist estimators with pricing and scheme developments
  9. Attend meetings with trade associations

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Timber Engineering (or related field)
  2. Professional accreditation (such as Chartered Engineer status or working towards it)
  3. Proven experience in structural engineering, with a focus on timber frame construction
  4. Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, or similar)
  5. Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and sustainability standards
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking
  7. Strong communication skills with the ability to present and explain technical concepts clearly
  8. Experience working on both residential and commercial projects is an advantage
