Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Public Affairs Manager to join our team at ENGINEERINGUK. As a key member of our Corporate Affairs team, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering public affairs and influencing strategies to support our business objectives.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with our management team to develop and implement public affairs and influencing strategies, using a range of tools and approaches to support our policy and campaigns.
  2. Collaborate with our Corporate Affairs colleagues, policy teams, and Director General's office to develop our approach to stakeholder management.
  3. Drive the development of stakeholder briefings, working with our Public Affairs team to ensure that our stakeholder engagement is correctly recorded and forms a valuable asset for future outreach.
  4. Line manage two Public Affairs Advisers and the External Affairs Assistant, setting clear objectives and having oversight of the quality of their outputs.
  5. Transform technical and complex policy issues affecting our industry into clear messages that get traction with a political stakeholder audience.
  6. Represent our organization at external meetings, conferences, and events, providing advice and support for our Senior Management team.
  7. Promote our aims and objectives and help secure the outcomes and deliverables set out in our Business Plan and Public Affairs Strategy.
  8. Lobbying and influencing - build productive professional relationships internally and externally, influencing policy and engagement with political stakeholders.
  9. Stakeholder management / engagement - identify key relationships, build influential relationships with members and stakeholders, and plan and execute campaign-based engagement with politicians.
  10. Organisation / planning - oversee and manage a number of complex work areas simultaneously and independently, adapting to changing work demands and reacting quickly to urgent issues and incidents.
