Procurement Specialist - Home and Kitchen Products

Mackenzie Jones is seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join their team in Quedgeley, Gloucester. This role involves managing suppliers, developing product ranges, and maintaining buying margins.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced buyer with a passion for far east sourcing to grow and develop their skills within our business.

The ideal candidate will have a retail buying background, experience developing and sourcing product in the Far East/Europe, and a deep understanding of how to trade through promotions while maintaining optimal margins.

  • Manage suppliers, including pricing negotiation, NPD selection, contract negotiations, and commitments.
  • Maintain product specifications and ensure all products and administration are legally compliant in relevant markets.
  • Monitor and maintain buying margin to hit budget, recommending actions if budgets are not being met.
  • Work with internal colleagues to ensure zero wastage and constant supply from internally manufactured products.
  • Tender relevant ranges to increase margins.
  • Reduce packaging use to increase sustainability and reduce costs, ensuring all packaging is compliant with internal operational machinery.
  • Evaluate and process customs paperwork and EUTR assessments received from suppliers on time and in full.
  • Collaborate with Buying Admin Assistant to ensure accurate data loading onto internal systems.
  • Support Buying & Merchandising team with long-term sourcing strategy.
  • Assist merchandising colleagues in resolving short-term changes in supply and delivering against availability targets.
Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Retail buying background with a focus on numbers and product expertise.
  • Experience in far east or European sourcing.
  • Understanding of trading through promotions while maintaining optimal margins.
  • Furniture or home/kitchen category experience is highly desirable.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
