Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation & Controls Field Service Engineer to join our team. As a key member of staff within our Field Services delivery and Support departments, you will be responsible for undertaking site, planned maintenance, breakdown fault find & troubleshooting, system modifications, commissioning, in-house design engineering and other client support activities across a range of electronic hardware/software based control and safety systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide site-based maintenance, repair, modification (wiring and fitting/assembly), testing and commissioning, on-shore and off-shore.
- Provide telephone support.
- Provide sound engineering advice as required across a spectrum of engineering problems.
- Adhere to Quality Standards and procedures (including reviews).
- Rapidly developing to undertake 24/7 call out, including offshore, on a rota basis for which additional allowances apply.
- Assist in new systems build (design/testing) where required.
- Be aware of the development of existing and new Schneider Electric hardware and software products.
- Assist when necessary in the development or upgrading of internal service/department procedures.
- Additional qualifying allowances will be paid for site work requiring overnight stays and off-shore visits. 24/7 call out support duties also attract further allowance payments.
- A sound practical understanding of basic electrical and electronic circuits.
- At least some demonstrable site-based experience in electronic/electrical/software (SCADA, PLC or DCS) control and/or safety systems maintenance, fault finding, repair, modification (including wiring and fitting/assembly), testing and commissioning.
- Testing at system level.
- Undertaking engineering design changes to existing systems.
- Proven hardware and/or software capabilities.
- Must be able and willing to work, when required, in environments such as off-shore oil rigs for which additional health & safety training is required and would be provided.
- Full UK driving licence required.
Requirements:
- At least two years experience in a role requiring extensive site-based electronic/electrical/software (SCADA, PLC or DCS) control and/or safety systems maintenance, fault finding, repair, modification (including wiring and fitting/assembly), testing and commissioning within the process & discrete control industry (such as Nuclear, Automotive, Food & Beverage, Chemical, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Defence).
- SCADA, PLC or DCS programming.
- Understanding of basics in intrinsic safety equipment, analogue/digital design, power supplies and distribution annunciators, comms etc. and/or PLC/DCS software programming capabilities.
- Good understanding of Industrial IT, virtualization environments, Software, I.T and Electrical/Electrical circuits and safety.
- CAD experience.
