About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Mental Health Support Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting children with SEMH needs in a specialist educational setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to pupils with SEMH needs, adapting your approach to meet their unique requirements.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement effective learning plans.
  • Support pupils in developing their social skills, including communication, empathy, and conflict resolution.
  • Intervene in challenging situations, using de-escalation techniques to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Assist with phonics, literacy, and numeracy interventions, helping pupils to catch up with their peers.
  • Ensure that all pupils feel safe, supported, and valued, promoting a sense of belonging and well-being.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience working with children with SEMH needs, preferably in a specialist educational setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, communicating effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with complex needs.
  • Right to work in the UK and overseas criminal clearance with UK residency of at least three months.
