Job Description:

A challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in South Bank, London.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with 4+ years of experience in electrical design engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing safe, economical, and reliable electrical systems for building services consultancy projects.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and strong leadership skills to lead projects from inception to completion. They will also assist in planning and managing resources to deliver projects on time.

The role involves preparing conceptual designs of HV and LV electrical systems, lighting, fire alarms, and equipment selection. The candidate will also be responsible for checking tender submissions, drawings, and technical submittals to ensure quality products and equipment meet design requirements.

A competitive salary of £42,500-£58,000 per annum is offered, depending on experience, along with a range of benefits including health insurance, company mobile, pension, and discretionary bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design safe, economical, and reliable electrical systems to meet contractual scope and comply with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Develop clear and concise drawings, specifications, and product schedules to define electrical systems.
  • Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines to minimize conflicts and avoid costly revisions.
  • Check tender submissions, drawings, and technical submittals to ensure quality products and equipment meet design requirements.
  • Undertake site visits and monitor progress against the design.
  • Assist subcontractors to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications and resolve problems during construction.
  • Report feedback or issues concerning projects or team to directors.
  • Build relationships and contacts with potential sources of new work and maintain existing relationships.
  • Ensure completion of all risk assessment documentation in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate junior staff internally, providing mentoring and leadership, and help identify opportunities for junior staff to develop.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of BSRIA BG6 and RIBA stages, Part L, BREEAM, and renewable technologies.
  • Assist with preparation of fee proposals.
  • Communicate clearly and confidentially with clients.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Competent with Trimble (formerly Amtech) or Cymap, DIALux or similar software.
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience advantageous.
  • Attained or working towards chartership.
