About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic individual to provide companionship and support to a 5-year-old boy named B who has Autism. This role involves engaging in activities that B enjoys, such as singing, puzzles, park trips, and playing outside. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure B's safety and well-being while providing him with a stimulating and enjoyable environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized care, including assistance with daily routines.
  • Maintain constant supervision of B to ensure his safety, as he can be prone to wandering.
  • Engage B in a variety of activities that cater to his interests and developmental needs.
  • Prepare meals and snacks as required.

Essential Skills and Qualities

  • A comprehensive understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A responsible, reliable, and trustworthy nature.
  • A full UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with Echolalia, a common form of communication used by individuals with Autism.
  • Previous experience as a Personal Assistant or in a similar role.

Training Provided

Comprehensive training will be provided on essential topics such as:

  • Personal Assistant Guide
  • Safeguarding Adults and Children
  • Understanding Challenging Behavior
  • First Aid
  • Hand Hygiene
  • Autism/Aspergers

Hours of Work

The hours are flexible and can be discussed at the interview stage. Weekend availability is essential.

Pay Rate

£11.44 per hour
