Job Description

The Community Development Librarian will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day administration and management of the library. This includes supervising staff, routine supervision of IT equipment and services, contributing to staff training requirements, and promoting library usage.

Main Duties:
  1. Supervise the efficient day-to-day administration and management of the library.
  2. Supervise staff in the library.
  3. Routine supervision of IT equipment and services.
  4. Contribute to staff training requirements within the library.
  5. Contribute formally to discussions on service development, especially through engagement with schools and local community groups.
  6. Identify growth potential for the library and promote library usage.
  7. Contribute to stock selection and promotion.
  8. Maintain records and undertake necessary checks in line with the Health and Safety of the building.
  9. Develop links with young people organizations and schools to enhance services to children.
Experience Required:

Professional library work is required.

The successful candidate should have extensive experience of working in public libraries and have excellent oral and written communication skills. A good standard of education, minimum of 4 GCSE's or equivalent grades A-C which should include English, is also essential.
