About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Inspector to join our maintenance and inspection team in SSE Enterprise. As a Substation Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting inspections of equipment at substation sites and ensuring sites are cleared of vegetation to allow access to the site and equipment at all times.

This role will cover both distribution substations (11kV) and primary substations (33kV) across the Wessex area. You will be required to identify potential faults with the distribution network and follow the escalation process to get resource to site while being committed to working safely at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of equipment at substation sites
  • Ensure sites are cleared of vegetation to allow access to the site and equipment
  • Identify potential faults with the distribution network

Requirements
  • Understanding of the ESQC Regulations
  • Ability to risk assess activities throughout the working day
  • Basic IT skills to allow inspection data to be collected on a hand-held device
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet business requirements
  • Excellent customer service, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of map reading
  • Basic level of fitness required
  • Driving license essential
