Fawkes & Reece South is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their team in Newbury. As a key member of the preconstruction team, you will be responsible for managing the design development process for several new build projects in the Oxfordshire/Berkshire/Wiltshire/Hampshire areas.
As a Design Manager, you will work closely with the Construction Director and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of detailed design information for procurement and construction throughout the preconstruction and build process.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the design development process for new build projects
- Chair regular design team meetings
- Manage consultant design teams
- Liaise with clients, architects, consultants, and construction teams
- Manage specialist sub-contractor design teams
- Agree information required schedules and ensure key dates are achieved
- Deal with local authorities to achieve planning permissions
- Review construction design information for buildability, compliance with contractors' proposals, employers' requirements, budget, and current building legislation
- Identify opportunities for value engineering
- Proactively resolve issues

Requirements:- Either an Engineering/Construction delivery or Architectural background
- Excellent technical and commercial knowledge
- Keen understanding of construction methodology, materials, and systems
- Procurement lead in times
- Experience of delivering residential buildings and working with Housing Associations
- Good working knowledge of current building regulations and NHBC requirements
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Strong planning and problem-solving ability
- Initiative and a positive approach
