Workshop Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Workshop Support Specialist to join our team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our training workshop.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Conducting regular maintenance checks on workshop equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and quality standards.
  • Supporting workshop training staff with the delivery of first-year apprentice material and commercial courses.
  • Assisting with open evenings and managing the ordering process of kit and equipment.
  • Liaising with the MTC workshop team to maintain equipment to the required standard.
  • Reacting to equipment breakdowns within the means of preventative maintenance.
  • Monitoring the learning environment, learner workplace Health, Safety, and welfare to internal and external standards.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • Performing Generic Engineering Operations.
  • Maintaining engineering machinery.
  • Past experience of working in an engineering environment (milling, turning, CNC).
  • General workshop H&S understanding.
  • 5S and Lean manufacturing knowledge understanding to ensure efficiencies are identified and implemented.

In addition:

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with good numeracy skills and confidence working with numbers & data.
  • Organised and methodical approach to work, always ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Manages time effectively and is able to identify the resources needed to accomplish tasks.
  • Sets high standards for quality & quantity.
  • Team player and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Travel to and support OAS Oxford site.
