Renewable Energy Trader

Join Drax Group, a leading renewable energy company, as a Renewable Energy Trader. In this role, you will be part of the Trading and Optimisation team, working closely with traders to support and direct them towards value, enabling them to make quick and informed decisions.

About the Role

As a Renewable Energy Trader, you will be responsible for fundamental analysis, with a key focus on power trading decisions. You will work with a generation portfolio including run-of-river hydro, pump storage hydro, and Biomass. Analytical knowledge in these new areas will make you invaluable to the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide robust fundamental analysis
  • Engage in trading strategies
  • Develop and maintain models
  • Review past analysis
  • Own pricing tools and trading-decision models
  • Provide market and competitor intelligence

About You

You will need to have a degree-level education in a subject along the lines of science, maths, economics, engineering, or other numerate subjects. You will also need working knowledge of UK power markets. Experience and understanding of power generation units will set you up to settle in quickly, as will a curious mindset.

Requirements

  • Solid experience with statistical and fundamental modelling using IT techniques such as SQL, Python, Excel, and Business Intelligence tools
  • Ability to apply a pragmatic approach to large data structures
  • Good understanding of the methods underlying linear and mixed integer programming
