About the Role

The role of Finance Operations Manager is a key position within our organisation, responsible for assisting partners in delivering statutory audit and accounts services to a diverse portfolio of clients. This exciting opportunity could be at Assistant Manager level for an experienced Senior looking to take the next step, with a competitive salary of £65,000 - £85,000 per annum.

This is a dynamic and social team within a reputable firm that offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 25 days holiday, flexible working patterns, and opportunities for further development and career progression.

The accounts/audit split of the role is approximately 60/40 respectively, where you will manage junior team members, allocate work, review, and support their growth and development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivery of accounts/audit assignments in conjunction with the client partner
  • Leading large and complex assignments
  • Supervising junior staff during the audit and reviewing their work
  • Delivering the audit file to the partner in a timely manner
  • Identifying cross-selling opportunities and potential management letter points
  • Managing client communication effectively
  • Monitoring chargeability and assignment budgets proactively
  • Counseling other staff for improved performance and technical development
  • Developing specialist sector knowledge and staying up-to-date with industry developments
  • Mentoring audit & accounts trainees and contributing to the training and development program

Requirements include:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified with significant post-qualified experience within a practice environment
  • Experience of audit planning, budget preparation, identifying key risks, developing an audit plan, and executing the audit on site
  • Knowledge and experience of current auditing standards and approaches
  • Experience preparing audit and accounts files using an electronic working paper system
  • Being IT literate with experience of accounts and audit software
  • Significant prior experience of statutory company accounts preparation under FRS102
  • Leadership experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
