Job Title: Sustainability Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Consultant to join our team at Building Design Partnership. As a key member of our Sustainability Group, you will play a crucial role in delivering environmental certification across various projects.

About the Role

As a Sustainability Consultant, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of environmental certification, reviewing project details, and developing targets for environmental certification and sustainable outcomes. You will also deliver workshops to communicate sustainability requirements to internal and external team members, provide support and guidance to design teams, and conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of environmental certification, with support from senior members of the team.
  • Review project details and develop targets for environmental certification and opportunities to enhance sustainable outcomes.
  • Deliver workshops to communicate sustainability requirements to internal and external team members.
  • Provide support and guidance to design teams in developing compliant and robust design strategies and associated evidence.
  • Conduct LCA assessments and support planning applications.
  • Review evidence and complete validation statements and QA processes for submission to third-party certification organizations.

Requirements
  • A formal qualification in a sustainability/environmental management/built environment subject.
  • Solid experience in WLC and Embodied Carbon analysis using materials life cycle tools and software such as OneClick LCA.
  • Experience working on BREEAM certifications across different RIBA stages, with a confident understanding of how to assess various credits.
  • Working knowledge of environmental and sustainability legislation and its applicability to UK development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confidence in preparing and delivering presentations to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience of LEED, Ska, or WELL Building Standard assessments.
  • Experience of using Adobe suite programs, including InDesign, and working knowledge of Bluebeam.
  • Experience of carrying out circularity assessments and consultancy.
