Vacancy Overview


We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Principal Sport & Leisure Officer. In this role, you will play a key part in the development and delivery of high-quality sport and leisure services across West Berkshire.



Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of sport and leisure strategies, promoting active and healthy lifestyles within the community
  • Assist in the management of the Leisure team to ensure the effective delivery of services
  • Work closely with partners to deliver sport and leisure projects, including identifying funding opportunities and securing investment
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of services, using data to inform future decision-making
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on sport and leisure matters

  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to think creatively and drive innovation
  • Experience in the sport and leisure sector, with a strong understanding of current trends and best practice
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
