Health and Social Care Department Head

Dunbar Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Health and Social Care to lead the department at a supportive secondary school in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher with leadership capabilities to take on a key role in shaping the curriculum and ensuring students receive a high-quality education.
The department delivers the NCFE Cache Level 1/2 Technical Award starting in Year 9 and BTEC Level 3 qualifications at KS5. As the Head of Health and Social Care, you will work alongside another full-time teacher, with the opportunity to develop the curriculum and provide academic and social support to students.
This role involves teaching Health and Social Care across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The department also provides students with real-world experience through work placements in local pre-schools and primary schools, along with Post-16 apprenticeships. Collaboration and well-being are key within the team, making it a great place to work and grow professionally.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Health and Social Care department and develop the curriculum to meet the needs of students.
- Teach Health and Social Care across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Work with the other full-time teacher to provide academic and social support to students.
- Develop and implement work placements and apprenticeships to provide students with real-world experience.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure a positive and effective working environment.
- Be a passionate and skilled teacher with a track record of success in Health and Social Care.
- Be confident in teaching across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
- Have experience in a range of Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications, particularly in Health and Social Care.
- Possess strong leadership skills and the ability to guide a department.
- Be committed to running after-school interventions or clubs as part of the school's extended provision.
- Have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative, team-focused attitude.
