As an Educational Interpreter with Portsmouth City Council, you will play a vital role in supporting bilingual learners and ethnic minority pupils at risk of under-achievement. Working in partnership with schools, you will provide a support service complementary to teaching activities, primarily through first language or bilingual communication.

Your key responsibilities will include assisting in monitoring progress and assessing performance, communicating important information to teachers about the child's full language repertoire, and assisting in the production of bilingual language/curriculum support materials.

With a strong understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality, you will be able to promote diversity within the school setting. Your experience of working with children at home and/or in a school setting, and interpretation and translation skills (formally or informally), will be invaluable in this role.
