Job DescriptionIT Instructor Position

We are seeking a skilled IT Instructor to join our team at HMP Rye Hill. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Media/IT training to meet contractual requirements and Awarding Body standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hold a qualification to allow the delivery of accreditation in IT.
  • Develop or contribute to a scheme of work and develop lesson plans to ensure a vocational based curriculum.
  • Assist in the development of learning materials to ensure quality and consistency of teaching materials.
  • Undertake assessments so that prisoners have the opportunity to achieve recognised qualifications.
  • Plan course programmes and manage against business targets
  • Experience of teaching in a classroom environment
  • Deliver and facilitate effective teaching, learning and assessment
  • Use blended learning methods to achieve successful outcomes
  • Work in partnership with Novus and other agencies
  • Complete all documentation as required to meet the requirements of the Company, the contract and relevant external bodies.
  • Monitor student progress so that students receive appropriate support to achieve their goals and contractual requirements are fulfilled.
  • Manage the teaching environment ensuring security of tools and equipment and maintenance of equipment to contractual requirements.
  • Ensure the maintenance of security within the prison environment by compliance with security instructions
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes the reporting of accidents and near misses in a timely manner and the application of safe systems of work for the role.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong teaching qualification and have experience of teaching in a classroom environment. They will also have a good understanding of health and safety practices and be able to work in a team environment.
