Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust Full time
Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to lead our Diagnostic Radiology Physics team at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

The successful candidate will act as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Diagnostic Radiology, providing expert advice and guidance to the Trust and its contracted customers. The ideal candidate will be accredited by RPA0 to act as a Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) within this specialty, or be on a short timescale pathway to achieving this status.

The Clinical and Radiation Physics team is part of the SEND (South, East and North Devon) Medical Physics network, providing Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Safety Services across the SEND geographic area to both NHS and non-NHS customers.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the Diagnostic Radiology Physics team, providing strategic direction and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality services. The team provides medical physics services to the NHS Breast Screening Programme, various community hospitals, dentists, vets and the Mireille Gillings Neuroimaging Centre, part of the University of Exeter, which operates a PET-CT service.

The successful candidate will have significant relevant experience and a current certificate of recognition as an MPE and RPA. Applications are also invited from individuals with less relevant experience who may be considered for appointment at a lower band.

A full driving licence is required for this position and access to an appropriate vehicle for the carriage of test equipment within the network.

The department encourages staff training and development and is an accredited training centre for the PTP, STP and HSST training schemes. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported in further professional development, based on their needs and service objectives.

The Trust recognises a variety of flexible working practices which contribute to both the needs of employees and the organisation itself.

Benefits

We offer a range of benefits to support your health and wellbeing, including access to our own comprehensive occupational health services, including counselling, onsite wellbeing activities and groups.

You will also have access to an extensive range of staff discounts on shopping, fitness and leisure options and you can spread the cost of technology and home appliance purchases from major retailers.

We are committed to creating a culture of inclusivity where everyone can be themselves and reach their full potential. We believe in fostering a sense of belonging and actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities.

Preference will be given to staff with 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon.

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust reserves the right to close vacancy when sufficient applications have been received.
