About the Role

The Durham University is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Grounds Maintenance Assistant to join their team. As a key member of the Student Enrichment Directorate, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the university's grounds and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include:
  • Undertaking all aspects of grounds maintenance, including lawn care, pruning, and waste management.
  • Operating University vehicles and transporting equipment to various sites across the campus.
  • Working as part of a professional, customer-focused team to deliver exemplary standards of grounds management.
  • Providing excellent service to students, colleagues, and visitors by carrying out tasks using relevant procedures.
  • Looking after yourself and others by following health and safety regulations.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate:
  • Recent experience in a similar role.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills.
  • Basic digital skills, including the ability to use the internet and email.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experience of working in a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions, spoken or written, accurately.
  • Ability to follow health and safety guidelines.
