Gulf Coast State College is seeking a highly skilled Academic & College Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our Enrollment Services department, you will play a critical role in supporting prospective and current students, parents, and faculty and staff in navigating the college's admission and registration processes.
Key Responsibilities- Admissions Support: Provide comprehensive support and detailed information about admission and registration processes to students, parents, and faculty and staff via in-person, phone, text, and email.
- Document Review and Processing: Review admission/readmission status and process admissions documents, including Residency Declaration, Personal Information Change, Change of Program, Permission to Release Records, and Request to Prevent Disclosure of Directory Information forms.
- Residency Determination: Review initial Residency Declaration documents for completion and verify information through Department of Motor Vehicles, State Board of Elections, and other sources as necessary to determine if the student is eligible for in-state tuition.
- Transcript Evaluation: Evaluate high school and GED transcripts and post developmental education exemption, as appropriate. Evaluate official college/university transcripts. Post/evaluate official test scores for AP, Cambridge AICE, CLEP, IB, DSST, and Excelsior College Exams.
- International Student Onboarding: Assist with the onboarding process for international students.
- Supervision: Supervise department's student assistants.
- Application Support: Process residency and/or other application support documents submitted in-person and scan to AppXtender (AppX). Process online Dynamic Forms for Enrollment Services.
- An Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
