We support the government's strategy taking many facets: from supporting the weapon programme for the nuclear deterrent, supporting the UK's counter terrorist programme, identifying where there may be nuclear tests taking place around the world, and building an expert group of individuals to give the UK real depth in nuclear science and technology.

About the Year in Industry:

This position is created for university students undertaking a 12-month placement, joining our growing Cyber SOC team.

Information Services (IT) provides People, Processes, and Technology to facilitate the collection of Data, Knowledge, and Information from contributors, managing and storing it to optimise its efficient retrieval. Our team combines technical skills with an understanding of broader business objectives to enable us in achieving strategic goals and supporting National Nuclear Security.

The Cyber SOC's mission is to protect assets by detecting and responding to Cyber threats. This is achieved through monitoring for external and internal threats, threat hunting, incidents response, forensics, and investigation.

We monitor both traditional networks and cloud environments, and the SOC benefits from having a wide range of tooling available to analysts.

Analysts within the SOC team can help grow and shape what we monitor and how we respond to threats. We offer self-development to ensure our analysts remain knowledgeable and gain the skills to maintain our mission.

Key Requirements

  • Strong interest in Cyber Security. Candidates should be studying for a degree in Information Technology, Computer Networks and Security, Cyber Security, or Mathematics.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary of £22,250 per year.
  • A market leading contributory pension scheme. We pay between 9% and 13% of your pensionable pay depending on your own contribution.
  • Every second Friday off. We achieve this by working a 41-hour week followed by a 33-hour week.
  • 270 hours annual leave per year, including an allowance for bank holidays.
