Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HGV Class 1 Lead Driver to join our team at GRS Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading our driving team and ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of HGV Class 1 drivers to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of goods.
  • Work closely with the Area Transport Manager to develop and implement training programs for drivers.
  • Conduct regular driving assessments and inductions to ensure drivers are meeting company standards.
  • Deliver bagged aggregates to customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with EU drivers' hours and Working Time Directive for mobile workers.
  • Assist with training and recruitment of new drivers.
  • Check the safety and condition of vehicles and report any faults as they occur.
  • Care for company assets and ensure they are used according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Ensure vehicles are securely loaded and restrained and that vehicle weights are within legal limits.
  • Drive efficiently and productively while adhering to road traffic law.
  • Represent the company in a professional and considerate manner at all times.
  • Assist with yard and other duties as required.
  • Complete reports and documentation accurately and on time.

Requirements:

  • 18 months experience as a HGV Class 1 Driver.
  • Previous experience in operating tipper bodies.
  • Drivers CPC Card.
  • Valid Tachograph Card.
  • Experience with training other drivers.
  • Good knowledge of the Driver's Hours, WTD, and legal obligations surrounding the transport industry.
