Job Description

Job Title: Payroll Team Leader

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Team Leader to lead the delivery of payroll services in Torfaen County Borough Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Payroll Officers and ensuring the delivery of an effective and efficient payroll service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a team of Payroll Officers to deliver high-quality payroll services.
  • Interpret and advise on government legislation and Council policy in relation to complex pay and benefits, pensions, and employment queries.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of improvements in IT, workflow, and transactional payroll processes.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders, including employees, managers, and external organizations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in a payroll environment.
  • Experience of information technology, financial systems, and accounting principles.
  • Experience of managing staff in a payroll environment.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems and recommend resolutions.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and work to strict deadlines.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • AAT/IPPM or other relevant payroll qualification.
