Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Assembly and Testing Engineer to join our team at AMETEK. As an Assembly and Testing Engineer, you will be responsible for building mechanical and/or electrical assemblies to technical drawings, SOPs, and CMMs. Your key responsibilities will include undertaking impregnation and resin insulation of electrical components, upgrading and repairing mechanical and/or electrical assemblies, and testing assembled products.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Build mechanical and/or electrical assemblies to technical drawings, SOPs, and CMMs.
  2. Undertake impregnation and resin insulation of electrical components.
  3. Upgrade and repair mechanical and/or electrical assemblies.
  4. Test assembled products.
  5. Perform mechanical assembly work to drawing and/or CMMs.
  6. Undertake electro/mechanical work, fan/motors, and/or heaters to drawing and/or CMMs.
  7. Use basic hand tools and measuring equipment, such as torque drivers, crimping tools, micrometers, and verniers.
  8. Impregnate the electrical windings of rotors and stators in electric motors, hybrid motors, generators, hydraulic motors, pumps, or coils in transformers.
  9. Carry out mechanical and electrical tests as defined in the process control documents, such as flash, resistance, and inductance.
  10. Adhere to all company manufacturing procedures.
  11. Complete all relevant documentation.
  12. Provide information and assistance to customers, suppliers, and visitors from other companies within our group of companies.
  13. Participate in Continuous Improvement and 5S activities that affect the quality or output of the product.
  14. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as provided.
  15. Carry out all activities in a timely manner to ensure the company manufacturing targets are achieved.
  16. Take on ad-hoc duties, including training colleagues in line with local skills matrix, department-associated tasks, and brief secondments to other departments.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Undertake training identified as a requirement of the role by the role manager.
  2. Undertake all other reasonable requests made by the role manager/acting manager or Directors.
  3. Be flexible and provide support outside of normal tasks during periods of reduced department staff attendance to ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and understand drawings and/or CMMs and/or SOPs.
  • Ability to work from SOPs in tandem with drawings.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Knowledge of tools, such as circlip pliers, pliers, screwdrivers, tweezers, scrapers, and Swiss files.
  • Soldering skills on small components.
  • Previous experience in a production environment, assembly of wide-range electro/mechanical products.
  • Experience in assembling small components, such as model kits or other small component assembly.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Methodical/logical.
  • Good time management.
  • Able to communicate at all levels.

  • Handles pressure well.
