We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technician Pilot Cutter Specialist to join our team in Faslane, Scotland.


The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of our Pilot Cutters and respective barges, ensuring that all onboard systems are maintained and repaired as required. This includes day-to-day vessel operations, logging and maintenance records, and reporting data as needed.


Main Accountabilities:



  • Support Planned Maintenance and normal/emergency repair work when required.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all onboard systems.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Technical teams to achieve maximum output and support to operations and vessels.
  • Maintain open communication with the Operations and Technical Superintendent regarding any issues affecting operational output.
  • E nsure compliance with relevant Oil and Environmental Pollution Prevention Legislation and emergency procedures.
  • Develop expertise on vessel construction, machinery, and operating characteristics.
  • Conduct routine planning and maintenance in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
  • Work with external contractors to ensure satisfactory completion of repair work.
  • Escort and collaborate with contractors as necessary.
  • Promote safety and report incidents or hazards.
  • Assist with barge operations for assigned vessels, including fuel, sewage, and sullage.

What You'll Need


To succeed in this role, you will require:



  • A minimum Certificate of Competency (CoC) as an Engineer Officer of the Watch or higher.
  • An up-to-date ENG1 medical certificate.
  • Requisite STCW qualifications for primary responsibilities.
  • Basic Level Management/Leadership training or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with small crews.
  • Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and the ISM Code.
  • IT awareness and health and safety knowledge.
  • Marine industry background and understanding of planned maintenance systems (such as AMOS).
