Diagnostic Radiographer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Radiographer to join our team at Boston Children's Hospital. As a Diagnostic Radiographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Imaging Services: You will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating requisitions for diagnostic imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts, and determining the appropriateness of procedures prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs.
  • Patient Care: You will identify patients according to hospital policy with 2 identifiers, select appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy, and assess patients' and parents' physical and emotional status.
  • Communication: You will explain the examination to patients and parents, answer questions regarding the exam and radiation exposure, and practice ALARA.
  • Quality and Safety: You will follow departmental QC/data integrity workflow, identify and report equipment malfunctions, and participate in departmental and hospital meetings.
  • Documentation: You will complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner, comply with ETU and HIPAA regulations, and practice the 6 core values of the hospital.
Requirements:
  • Education: An Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology is required.
  • Licensure and Certification: MA Radiographer license and ARRT certification are required.
  • Skills: You must have analytical skills to resolve complex problems, the ability to communicate effectively, and empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
