Job Title: Learning Support Assistant - SEN

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a small Primary school in Winchester. The school has a strong focus on accessibility and inclusivity, providing a high-quality education for pupils with additional learning needs.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work 1:1 with a pupil who is working towards early learning goals with no behavioural issues. You will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the pupil, helping them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to the pupil, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Work with the pupil to develop their communication skills, empathy, and independence.
  • Use specific skills such as Team Teach, PECS, and TEACCH to support the pupil's learning.
  • Collaborate with the teaching staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Great communication skills and empathy for children.
  • Confidence working 1:1 with pupils, with experience of dealing with various behaviours consistently.
  • Able to work independently and with initiative.
  • Specific skills including Team Teach, PECS, and TEACCH to support learning (desirable).
  • Previous experience working with SEN pupils within a school setting (essential).
