We are partnering with a Local Authority in Islington to find a suitable candidate for a caretaker position. This is a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension at the client's discretion.

**Rate of Pay:** £16.30 - £21.37 per hour

About the Role:

  • The successful applicant will be responsible for reporting to the Estate Services Co-ordinator and Quality Assurance Officers, who oversee caretaker management. They will also interact with management and staff at the Area Offices.
  • Daily management control information and other documentation must be completed as required.
  • Records of complaints made by tenants and important incidents such as fire, burglary, flood, and others must be reported to the Area Office or Housing Department.
  • The caretaker must report contraventions of tenancy regulations by tenants.
  • Abandoned vehicles and illegal parking on estates must be reported, and liaising with Estate Service Officers and contractors may be necessary.
  • The maintenance of communal area lighting is also an essential responsibility.

Requirements:

  • A reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy is required.
  • Some experience in cleaning or caretaking duties (paid/unpaid) is preferred.

Essential Skills:

  • The ability to perform cleaning duties, both alone and as part of a team.
  • The ability to deal effectively with complaints regarding disrepair.
  • Ability to negotiate a harmonious working arrangement with an assigned caretaker, meeting service needs and management approval.
  • Reacting promptly and dealing with emergency situations, such as fire, flood, and lift breakdowns.
  • Supplying brief reports on background and actions taken regarding emergencies or unusual occurrences.

  • Candidates should be available to start immediately or at short notice.
  • Right to work in the UK is required.
  • This role necessitates a Basic DBS check.
