Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Oncology Consultant to join our team at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with gynaecological and breast tumours, and will contribute to the development of our oncology service.
Main Responsibilities
The appointed consultant will be expected to:
- Work with colleagues to provide a local cancer service to patients with gynaecological and breast tumours.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review patient cases.
- Provide clinical leadership as Gynaecology and Breast Oncology Lead.
- Contribute to ongoing research projects using clinical and laboratory facilities.
Organisational Responsibilities
The appointed consultant will also be responsible for:
- Teaching and training junior staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Acting as clinical/educational supervisor to locally employed doctors and doctors in training programmes.
- Participating in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCP Part 1 and Part 2.
- Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council.
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
Desirable Criteria
The following criteria are desirable:
- Postgraduate thesis awarded or pending.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn is a comprehensive acute hospital providing specialist, acute, obstetrics, and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire, and South Lincolnshire.
We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care.
In February 2022, the Trust was rated 'Good' in all core services by the Care Quality Commission, who recommended that the Trust moves out of the recovery support system.
