Job Overview

Southeastern is seeking a highly skilled Service Engineer Level 1 to join our team in maintaining the integrity of our train fleet. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for carrying out routine repairs, examinations, and fault finding as directed by the Train Leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough examinations of trains for interior defects, including toilet defects, to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform repair work, routine maintenance, and supplementary overnight exams on train toilets to specification as required.
  • Rectify defects, replace components, and perform heavy lifts as necessary to maintain train functionality.
  • Complete all necessary documentation to record maintenance activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the MIST production delivery engineer or on-duty shift production delivery engineer to ensure seamless maintenance operations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in skilled mechanical or electrical work, with a strong understanding of rail industry standards and regulations.
  • Practical aptitude and ability to follow schematics and diagrams to diagnose and repair complex issues.
  • Ability to pass Personal Track Safety or Depot Track Safety courses and maintain physical fitness to meet engineering standards.
  • Full UK driving license and adherence to company vehicle policy.
  • Ability to pass core mechanical and core electrical skills competency assessments.
