Job Title: Electrical and Instrumentation Technician
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to join our team at Westlakes Recruit. The successful candidate will have a background in Nuclear and be able to assemble control panels and control systems to meet client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble control panels and control systems to meet client requirements
- Work with electrical engineers to solve problems related to the assembly process and the functioning of the panels and components
- Install completed products or panels on client sites
- Work as part of a project team with specific duties of assembly and debugging on special purpose industrial automation and robotic assembly systems
- Assist in the production of technical files and lifetime records
- Carry out full testing including witness testing of control panels
- Produce red pen mark-up drawings and using AutoCAD produce as-built drawings
- Communicate with project engineers/managers regarding any related requirements or changes which require action
- Produce bill of materials and produce quotations
- Ensure calibrations are successfully carried out
- Carry out and maintain workshop equipment inspections
- Protect and support the company's reputation in public with customers, suppliers, and other interested parties
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
- Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes
- Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services
Requirements:
- Time served electrical technician with C&G qualifications or equivalent
- Qualified to HNC level in a relevant electrical discipline
- Ability to assemble, wire and test control panels
- Ability to facilitate witness testing
- Ability to safely install control panels and systems
- Ideally with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant environment
- PLC knowledge would be a benefit but is not essential
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD would be beneficial but not essential
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems
- 17th Edition - City and Guilds Qualification 2382-12
