Job Description

My client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineering Manager to lead a prestigious heavy civil scheme in the Hertfordshire/Buckinghamshire borders.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Project Manager on civil projects, with commercial, financial, project and programme management expertise. They will be responsible for managing business results, communicating project requirements, and establishing communications with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the business results of the project
  • Project organisation and definition and regulation of responsibilities
  • Communicate all project requirements to the project team
  • Set and agree challenging stretch targets for all team members
  • Establish communications with Client/Representative
  • Organize the flow of information between the whole integrated project team members and third parties
  • Implement the management system within the project team
  • Lead HSQE management
  • Approve Project IMS Plan and appoint duties
  • Evaluate opportunities and risks
  • Organise planning management
  • Establish procurement deadlines
  • Review and revision of contract programme
  • Establish works packages
  • Cooperate in the awarding of contracts to sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Contract management and supervision of project progress
  • Responsible for project controlling
  • Change management process
  • Collaborate in the recruitment of staff
  • Identify and coordinate training requirements

Requirements:

  • Degree/HND in Engineering
  • Previous experience as a Project Manager on civil projects
  • Commercial, Financial, Project and Programme management experience
  • Excellent leadership and tendering skills
  • Good level of numeracy and IT skills – MS Office, Word, Excel etc
  • Strong team player who is self-motivated and able to communicate with people at all levels
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
