The Rules Team is part of the Technical Directorate, which is responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining technical policy and reference materials
  • Managing external relations with key stakeholders such as flag states, IMO, and IACS

The Role

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of structural rules for ships, naval ships, and small craft.
  • Conduct research and technical analysis on structural integrity, fatigue, and failure modes.
  • Collaborate with senior colleagues to ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., IMO, IACS) and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to technical reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, innovations, and best practices in naval architecture and structural engineering.
  • Work towards achieving CEng status or equivalent.

What You Bring

  • A degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, or equivalent) in Naval Architecture or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of industry regulations and classification societies' rules (e.g., IACS, IMO).
  • Proficiency in CAD software and analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities, with a desire to learn and grow.

Desirable

  • Experience with ship design and structural analysis (internships, projects, etc.).
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for simulation and automation.
