We have an experienced Environmental and Planning Team operating from multiple locations, including Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Bolton, Stoke, Birmingham, London, and Cardiff.

The Opportunity

We're seeking an exceptional Senior or Principal or Associate Director specialising in Environmental Impact Assessment to support our Technical Director in managing and delivering projects, as well as guiding a team of consultants based in Stoke. Although, we'll consider candidates preferring alternative WA office locations.

This role will encompass:

  • Managing statutory and non-statutory EIAs, including client liaison, programme management, document review, and task delegation to junior team members;
  • Day-to-day management, involving workload coordination and budget oversight;
  • Contributing to the professional development of junior team members;
  • Fostering opportunities with other teams possessing complementary skills, such as ecology, landscape, air quality, noise, archaeology, heritage, engineering, waste, mining, minerals, energy, and climate change;
  • Developing business relationships with existing clients and identifying potential new ones;
  • Supporting the Planning and EIA Service Area coordination.

We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates with the following qualities and experience:

  • A proven track record as lead EIA Co-ordinator on large-scale development proposals;
  • Experience in producing Environmental Statements, including writing non-technical aspects and reviewing technical aspects;
  • An in-depth understanding of the English planning system, especially the EIA Regulations;
  • Desirable DCO experience, though not mandatory;
  • Excellent report writing skills, coupled with technical proficiency;
  • Demonstrable business development and client relationship-building abilities;
  • Self-motivation, accompanied by effective communication skills;
  • Proven leadership experience, including junior colleague development;
  • A relevant undergraduate degree or higher;
  • Professional membership of IEMA (Practitioner or higher);
  • A full UK driving licence.

This is a full-time position, although part-time applicants will be considered.
