Job Description

Residential Parenting Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Residential Parenting Support Specialist to join our team in Aylesbury. The successful candidate will work closely with families and their children, providing a supportive living environment that enables them to learn and develop essential parenting skills.

The role involves conducting comprehensive assessments of parents' capacity to care for their children, as well as offering guidance and support to help them manage complex behaviors. You will work collaboratively with social workers, other outside agencies, and wider family groups to ensure the best possible outcomes for families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct 12-16 week parenting assessments, including 1:1 parenting sessions and outreach support within the community
  • Provide physical parenting support, such as guiding new parents and role modeling day-to-day basic care of a child
  • Adhere to CCTV policies and maintain a safe and secure living environment
  • Work in partnership with social workers, other outside agencies, and wider family groups to achieve positive outcomes
  • Prepare and amend rotas to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
  • Maintain health and safety protocols, training records, and risk assessments

Requirements:

  • Committed to working with families and their children in a residential setting where behavior can be complex and challenging
  • Appropriate knowledge and experience of working with families and children, with a commitment to ongoing training and professional development
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative in a challenging environment
  • Relevant qualification (NNEB/QCF/NVQ 3 in Care) and experience of working in a social service-related setting
  • All spent convictions and adult cautions not protected by law
