About Disability North

Disability North is a leading provider of person-centered support services, dedicated to empowering individuals with complex needs to live independently and fulfill their potential.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will provide high-quality support to our son, who requires 2:1 assistance due to his complex learning difficulties and health needs. This will involve enabling him to access leisure activities, manage his healthcare needs, and maintain a high standard of care and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support our son in all aspects of his care and daily life, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, using our wheelchair-accessible vehicle as needed.
  • Engage in activities that promote social interaction and community participation, such as going for walks, visiting local attractions, and engaging in hobbies.
  • Monitor and report any changes in our son's health or behavior, and work collaboratively with the family and healthcare team to ensure his needs are met.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, working closely with other PAs and family members to ensure seamless care and support.

Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with complex needs, particularly those with Autism and complex health needs.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, with a patient and caring approach.
  • Valid driving license and ability to drive an automatic wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
  • Further training and support will be provided as needed.
