Job Title: Principal Building Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Principal Building Surveyor to join our team at EngineeringUK. As a key member of our consultancy business, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on building regulations and safety standards to our clients across various sectors.

About the Role:
  • Lead the design team and ensure that design principles are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with clients, designers, and construction teams to deliver projects that meet business, statutory, and contractual requirements.
  • Manage direct reports and provide technical assurance to ensure that design outputs meet quality expectations.
  • Work collaboratively towards net zero carbon transition and identify opportunities for carbon emissions reduction.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide principal designer services for CDM 2015 and building regulations to clients across all RIBA stages.
  • Chair online and in-person workshops to support designers in complying with their new duty holder roles.
  • Develop and implement building safety act consultancy advice and client advisor services to support clients in complying with their duties.
  • Manage and support the training and development of others to carry out building regulations compliance checks and management.
Requirements:
  • MRICS or CIOB (Level 4 diploma in building control surveying) qualification.
  • Strong knowledge base in building control approvals and consultancy.
  • Delivery of work outputs within set time frames and commercial goals.
  • Commitment, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic.
  • Team player capable of a flexible approach.
  • Strong IT capabilities, including Microsoft Office and tablet/mobile data collection.
