Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Field-Based Telematics Engineer to install, maintain, and provide technical support for telematics systems, safety systems, and camera systems in various vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. System Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and calibrate telematics systems in vehicles, including HGV's, trucks, earth-moving equipment, and quarry equipment, according to manufacturer guidelines and specifications.
  2. Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality of telematics devices and associated software.
  3. Maintenance and Inspections: Perform routine maintenance and inspections of installed telematics systems, identifying and resolving any technical issues.
  4. Technical Support and Training: Provide on-site technical support and training to customers on the use and functionality of telematics systems.
  5. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with customers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure successful system integration.
  6. Record Keeping: Keep detailed records of installations, maintenance activities, and technical support provided.
  7. Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new telematics technologies, and regulations related to data privacy and security.
  8. Feedback and Improvement: Collaborate with the engineering team to provide feedback on system enhancements and suggest improvements.
  9. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures while working on vehicles and equipment.
Requirements
  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certification in electronics, telecommunications, or automotive engineering is preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Telematics Engineer or in a related role.
  3. Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of telematics technology, including GPS tracking, vehicle diagnostics, and data communications.
  4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using telematics diagnostic and configuration tools, as well as related software applications.
  5. Problem-Solving and Communication: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently. Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  6. Work Environment: Ability to work independently and in a field-based environment. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
  7. Travel: Willingness to travel to customer sites on a regular basis.

Work Schedule: 50 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Van and tools provided. Company phone and overtime opportunities available.
