About the Role:

We're seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join our team and lead the development of our procurement function. As a key stakeholder, you'll be responsible for overseeing the sourcing process, optimizing supplier relationships, and leveraging market insights to deliver tangible value.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain strong relationships with a pool of suppliers, ensuring a professional and high level of engagement to provide Starling with a 'share of voice' within the supplier organization.
  2. Engage in the process of reviewing, negotiating, contracting, and recontracting third-party agreements in line with commercial, regulatory, legal, and policy principles.
  3. Negotiate and establish competitive commercial agreements, documenting evidence of commercial improvements or cost avoidance.
  4. Post-contract, be responsible for the 'In-Contract Management' of agreements, measuring relationships against agreed SLAs, engaging with internal stakeholders, and ensuring regular cadence of MI meetings with strategic suppliers.
  5. Look for opportunities to optimize vendor commercial and operational performance as well as internal processes.
  6. Identify, document, and agree requirements at the beginning of a project to provide clarity during the contracting, negotiation, and sign-off process.
  7. Maintain knowledge of third-party arrangements with an emphasis on 'Service Level Agreements'; pricing, termination, and notice provisions.
  8. Maintain a sound working knowledge base of category supplier capacities in the market, category market trends, and developments, attending trade events and conferences where applicable.
  9. Stay up-to-date with all sector regulatory legislation and changes, ensuring compliance with associated training.
  10. Ensure all procurement and contractual workflows are maintained and kept up to date within the contract management system.
  11. Build healthy and productive relationships with key internal stakeholders within category spend areas.
  12. Act as a point of escalation, providing guidance and support to stakeholders across the organization.
  13. Work closely with the Vendor Management Office (VMO) and Due Diligence team to ensure supplier onboarding aligns with company values, meeting all relevant criteria and ethical thresholds.
  14. Collaborate with the commercial legal team throughout the contracting process.
  15. Work in tandem with the Data Protection and Security teams to ensure contracts meet current thresholds in these areas.
  16. Contribute to monthly reporting and updates to Executives (VMF).
  17. Conduct market tenders/benchmarks (RFP, RFI, & RFQs) as required.
  18. Where applicable, maintain inventory (volume and quality) with suppliers, providing up-to-date forecasts and ensuring a seamless supply of product as required by the business.
  19. Represent the wider function within Starling.

Requirements:

  1. University degree
  2. Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Procurement Manager
  3. Experience of collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  4. Strong research skills
  5. Highly numerate
  6. Ability to analyze and interpret challenging data to provide positive commercial outcomes
  7. Contractually literate with the ability to negotiate around the finer points of an agreement
  8. Experience of managing and writing RPPs and tender documentation
  9. Excellent relationship-building, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills with a collaborative approach
  10. Ability to be self-motivated and work cooperatively as part of a team
