Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Officer to join our team at Essential Employment. As a Senior Planning Officer, you will play a key role in providing expert advice on development proposals, managing a workload of applications, and preparing and presenting cases on appeals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pre-application advice on development proposals, in accordance with national planning guidance and development plan policies.
  • Manage a workload of applications, including consultation, amendment, preparation of report and recommendation to service quality standards and time scales.
  • Prepare and present case on appeals on planning and related matters to meet Planning Inspectorate standards and timescales.
  • Respond to general queries on planning and related matters within team to achieve service quality standards and time scales.
  • Maintain and update records to service quality standards and timescales.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in planning and development, with a strong understanding of national planning guidance and development plan policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage a workload of applications and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
